I am sorry to say you did not follow me to CBS but you were always the smart one.Rock Center has more charm than the west side waterfront on 57th street.
Now that you are in Florida just a hop skip and jump away Joan has asked me to visit with you so I can improve my diction and try to make a comeback.

Hi, Howard:

I used to be the engineer on your morning radio show on WGY. I can recall some pretty good phone calls that you took while hosting the show. I do not know if you recall other radio engineers, but they included Gus Coopersmith, John Ellis, Ted Fischer, Marcel Reeds, Leo Vaschrow, Frank Boudreau and others. I still have the copy of a picture that was taken of the crew in around 1952, and I got to keep it as the last survivor to retire.

You had a long, illustrous career on NBC and many is the time that I recognized your "voice overs' on various shows. Ah, the good ol' days.

It's been so long. Recently heard of your deserved retirement from NBC. I retired at the end of 1999. Retired to Florida. Laura and I live a wonderful life untill 9/11 when our son Nicholas was killed in the WTC. Nothing has ever been the same.

The site was certainly an interesting read...I'm a college student majoring in broadcast journalism and have always wondered what the announcer for NBC Nightly News looked like - now I know! "From NBC News World Headquarters in New York..." Unquestionably the best announcer in news history. Have fun in retirement.
